Who we are
At Chocolate Dog Fly Fishing, everything starts with the dogs.
I grew up surrounded by four chocolate Labradors — loyal, tireless, and full of life. Over the years, that pack has become three, but their unyielding desire to explore, push forward, and live freely continues to inspire everything I do. Their spirit represents what fly fishing — and this company — is all about: curiosity, perseverance, and finding joy in every stretch of river.
Our mission is simple: to create meaningful experiences on the water that connect people to the outdoors and to themselves. Whether it’s your first cast or your hundredth day on the oars, every trip is designed to slow things down, appreciate the moment, and reconnect with the wild spaces that deserve our protection.
As the owner and lead guide, I bring both a deep respect for the craft and a lifetime of outdoor experience. I was born in Virginia, lived in Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Texas, Wisconsin, and New York, raised with a persistent love for the woods and water, and later graduated from Syracuse University, where my sense of adventure and drive to build something authentic truly took shape. Today, guiding allows me to blend that same spirit of learning and discovery with my love for conservation and community.
At its heart, Chocolate Dog Fly Fishing is more than a guide service — it’s a reminder that life’s best days are often the simplest ones: a sunrise, a cast, a good dog, and a river that keeps flowing.
Guides
Liam Trebilcock – Founder & Lead Guide
Liam grew up exploring the rivers and lakes of New England, developing a deep respect for coldwater ecosystems and the fish that inhabit them. With years of experience wading and rowing across Connecticut and the Catskills, with trips to Montana, Colorado, and all across New England he created Chocolate Dog Fly Fishing to share that same passion with others.
When he’s not guiding, you’ll find him exploring new water with his Labs — Harvey, Finley, and Reginald — or somewhere lost in the mountains for a few days. His approach to guiding is patient, educational, and always rooted in respect for the resource.
